Screening is a process which divides particles on the basis of size and their acceptance or rejection by a screening surface. The principle of screening is the separation of material into sized fractions. Each fraction will pass through an aperture of defined size or will be retained on a smaller aperture.

Various types of screening media can be used for the screening process, dependent on feed material characteristics and nominal size, final product sizing and equipment selection.

Scalping Screens

Scalping screens are predominantly used before a primary crusher for the removal of excessive fines or clay materials prior to the crushing process.

Sizing Screens

Sizing screens are used after the crushing process for the separation of crushed product into various size fractions.
